Tuition
Tuition for
the program is based on the current Duke per-course rate for graduate
study. Tution covers all program benefits including the
MALS writing program, research seminars and administrative support.
Tuition for the 2008-2009 academic year is $3,111 per course.
Tuition Assistance
MALS admissions decisions
are made without regard for financial need. Although the cost of graduate
tuition is rising, students should not assume a Duke education is beyond
their means. We are committed to helping our students receive an exceptional
education at Duke University. More
than 65% of MALS students receive some form of aid towards their course
via the following options:
- Employer Assistance - Many employers
provide some level of tuition assistance for higher education.
If you would
like information to present to your employer about the benefits of
obtaining a MALS degree, please contact our office.
- Duke Tuition Benefit - Duke employees
who have completed two years of service may be eligible for a
tuition benefit. Contact the Duke Human Resources Office for more
information.
- MALS Scholarships - These scholarships,
funded by the program,
are awarded primarily on
need-based
criteria. Scholarships normally range from 20-65% of tuition;
full tuition
scholarships are not available. To be considered for a MALS scholarship,
applicants must complete the MALS scholarship form which is provided
in the application packet. This
form
should be
submitted
at
the time
of
application to the MALS program.
Deferred Payment Plan -
This plan allows students to make payments on their tuition in equal
installments over the course of the semester. |
The
MALS program is like a buffet that allows me to satisfy my hunger for
learning in areas that correspond to my needs. There is no fixed menu
based on someone else’s desire to feed me their beliefs.
